To my former employers and serious executives everywhere:

Well three years later, McKinsey says it’s all goodnow do you believe me???

Better to be wrong collectively than to be right alone is what they say… But I’m just not built that way. Oh and btw, email isn’t just a childish fad either (just in case McKinsey hadn’t cleared that one up too…)

  • Painful is it not. The problem for McK is that consumerised IT is SO simple that there is very little value left for them to add, I guess.
  • I don't know, they still seem to have a lot of success slapping the McKinsey brand on simple ideas and selling them to CEOs...although is this a wasting asset (what happens in 10 years when (if??) the baby boom guys leave the executive suite...)? Anecdotal but I've seen first hand a number of times when senior execs will only consider a new idea if/once it is McKinsey approved: variation on "nobody ever got fired for buying IBM..." ass-cover... Good business if you can get it!

I actually subscribe to the (free) McKinsey newsletters just to know what the Fortune1000 boardroom zeitgeist is...

Hopefuly with the nice McK endorsement a few more companies will get off the collective fence and become more interesting and better places to work.
